Love is in the air, and you’re invited to celebrate Valentine’s Day with an evening of food, music, and dancing at the American Legion! Whether you’re coming with a sweetheart, a group of friends, or just ready to enjoy a great night out, this event is all about good company and a welcoming community atmosphere.

Join fellow members and guests for a relaxed, festive Valentine’s celebration in the Clubroom. Enjoy a shared potluck meal, take to the dance floor, and spend the evening reconnecting with friends old and new.

Super Bowl Party at Club 125!

We are excited to host our first Club 125 Super Bowl Party, and we invite members to join us for an afternoon of football, food, and fellowship.

Doors open at 1:30 PM, giving everyone plenty of time to get settled before kickoff. The big game will be shown on the big screen, so you won’t miss a moment of the action.

This event will be potluck-style, and members are encouraged to bring your favorite Super Bowl food to share—snacks, appetizers, or game-day classics are all welcome. The full bar will be open, with cold drinks available throughout the game.

Please note that this is a private, members-only event. Members are welcome to sign in friends and family as guests, in accordance with Post and American Legion policies.

Meet Me at Club 125!

After several months of suggestions and voting, the Vandenberg Post 125 Clubroom now has a much simpler, and easier to use, regular clubroom name: Club 125.

The winning suggestion was made by Carmen Vargas 11 weeks ago. Thank you for that name Carmen!

Our process involved gathering names by email and Facebook, whittling those names down to the top 10 for voting, then we had public voting by email and Facebook, then the top four names were reviewed by our Executive Board which mirrored the votes were received by email and Facebook.

Everyone who has been involved with this contest is very satisfied with the result and now you can say, “Meet me at Club 125!”

Get Ready to Let the Good Times Roll

American Legion Post 125’s 2nd Annual Mardi Gras is teaming up with the American GI Forum to host a spectacular evening of fun and festivity. Mark your calendars for this joint fundraiser that promises to be an unforgettable night.

The party is happening on February 17, 2026, from 5pm to 11pm at the Lompoc Veterans Memorial Building Ballroom.

This event is packed with entertainment. Get ready for a night featuring a DJ and live blackjack. Your taste buds will be treated to delicious Jambalaya, Gumbo, and, of course, King Cake for dessert.

Don’t forget to dress to impress! There will be prizes for the best dressed for Mardi Gras, so show off your beads and best costumes. You can also capture the memories at the $5 Photo Booth.

2nd Annual Military Unit Thanksgiving Potluck

On November 21st, Post 125 once again sponsored three military units from Vandenberg Space Force Base for their Thanksgiving potluck for members and families. It was estimated that over 100 members from the 2d Range Operations Squadron, 2d Space Launch Squadron, and 30th Operations Support Squadron attended. In addition to helping reserve the facility and provide access to the BBQ pit area, kitchen and ballroom, Post 125 2nd Vice Commander and Adjutant Joseph Benton, along with Jr Past Commander and Judge Advocate Andy Wulfestieg, talked with numerous people about the Legion, our activities, and some of the benefits of membership. They also gathered names of anyone interested in joining so that the Post can conduct a drawing to offer three free annual memberships to the American Legion. It was noted that several individuals who had won memberships the previous year had also recently renewed, signifying just one of the values of this event!

Lompoc Veteran’s Day Ceremony

To Honor and Say Thank You to All US Military Veterans

The annual celebration in honor of military service veterans was held at 11am on November 11th at the Lompoc Veterans Memorial Building. The ceremony started with the posting of the American and California flags by members of Scouts BSA Troop 2103, with lots of support from Cub Scout Pack 2103 as well. Soledad Kennedy served as a master of ceremonies, and Ken Ostini, who recently joined Post 125, was the guest speaker. Several cars and motorcycles from the Lompoc Police Department drove by at 11:11am with lights flashing and sirens blaring to mark the occasion. After the ceremony, an open house was held in the building, and light refreshment were served, with the Post 125 Clubroom open for members and guests as well. The Scouts made quick work of both setting up and tearing down the chairs for the event, and their assistance and participation was greatly appreciated!

2025 Veterans Stand Down – Santa Barbara County

The 13th Annual Santa Barbara County Veterans Stand Down 2025 takes place on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

It will be held this year at:
Santa Maria Fairpark

2025 marks the 13th annual Veterans Stand Down in Santa Barbara County. The event is modeled after other communities that have successfully served homeless and at-risk veterans for years. The event takes place at the Santa Maria Fairpark and the following services are provided:

  • New Clothing and Towels
  • Hygiene Products
  • Haircuts
  • Showers
  • Flu Shots
  • Chaplain Services
  • Medical, Dental, Vision
  • Social Services
  • Readjustment Counseling
  • Legal Services
  • Food
  • Employment Counseling
  • Pet Zone (including medical & grooming)
  • Entertainment
  • Transportation

Santa Barbara County Veterans Stand Down is dependent upon monetary donations and government grants to provide services to homeless and unemployed veterans at Stand Down. Funds raised from the community will go toward feeding and clothing veterans. New Officers for 2025-2026!

Congratulations go out to the new officers of Vandenberg Post 125! Leading us into the new American Legion year is Commander Shannon Stevens took over the reigns from Past Commander Michael “Andy” Wulfestieg who has led the post for the past 5 years through COVID-19 and declining participation.

The new Commander was quick to organize a thank you for the outgoing Commander in the form of a tribute plaque and a round of applause and thanks from the post.

This year’s post officers were sworn in by District 16 Commander Miguel Kercado; whose home post is Orcutt Post No. 534. We are grateful for his contribution to our ceremony.

Join us in congratulating our new officers here to serve us through June of 2026!
